Florence Park Care Center encourages all residents to reach their highest functional level. This is achieved through a cohesive, interdisciplinary rehabilitation program that includes physical, occupational, speech, cognitive and restorative therapy, working together with nursing and dietary services and the activities department. All of these disciplines function as a team to insure our residents are provided the opportunity to reach their maximum potential. Residents leave Florence Park Care Center and return to their homes or an assisted living facility, accomplishing the activities of daily living with little or no assistance. Physical Therapy and Restorative Therapy Physical therapy and restorative therapy is the rehabilitation specialty that works closely with a resident to regain functional abilities that may be lost due to a variety of medical conditions - such as fractures, Parkinson's Disease, total joint replacement and stroke. Many of these diagnoses leave an individual unable to walk or stand, get out of bed independently, or perform other activities safely. Our quality rehabilitation program with licensed therapists can assist residents to regain these functional abilities.
Occupational Therapy Occupational therapists work with residents to regain or enhance simple functions such as feeding oneself, meal preparation, oral hygiene, bathing and dressing. This rehabilitation specialty allows residents to function independently once they leave Florence Park Care Center, and return to their home or other living arrangement.
Speech Language and Cognitive Therapy Speech language and cognitive therapy with licensed therapists teaches residents new communication skills, and how to handle difficulties encountered chewing and swallowing. Speech language and cognitive therapy as a rehabilitation specialty can give an individual the opportunity to communicate with family members, and lessen the feeling of isolation caused by reduced physical abilities.
