SECURE ALZHEIMER'S UNIT
Florence Park Care Center was the first nursing facility in Northern Kentucky to set aside an entire wing as a secure unit for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease and related disorders. The nursing and activities staff receives ongoing specialized training in the care of memory impaired residents.
Residents of this wing interact with staff and socialize in a spacious, well-lit environment situated beneath mature trees, with views to landscaped gardens populated by squirrels and birds. There is a secure patio with garden area for residents to explore, plant their own tomato plant, or just sit under an awning and enjoy being outside. Trained activity staff are present during the day and evening hours, providing individual and group interaction. Because this is a secure unit with nursing staff on duty throughout the day and night, residents can wander safely.
Florence Park Care Center knows how difficult it is to care for a loved one at home when there is memory impairment. A support group for caregivers and family members meets at 7:00 p.m. on the second Monday of each month at Florence Park Care Center. This group is for resident family members, as well as other families in the community who need support and education about Alzheimer's disease and related disorders.
